The Full Story
In its first year at Green Man, PEEQUAL had thirty urinals split between the Little Folk Main Stage and the Courtyard. These were built and installed a week before the festival started, however, we are able to set the units up in a couple of hours thanks to our simple flat-pack design.
Over the course of the festival, they were used by thousands of women, thousands of times. Despite this traffic, the urinal units at both sites remained clean across the weekend with deep cleaning happening on Saturday morning and Monday morning.
PEEQUAL staff and WaterAid volunteers staffed the facilities throughout the duration of the festival. As a new addition to the festival, their job was to educate, encourage, and keep users safe throughout. Our volunteer model ensured that Green Man attendees had peace of mind that they were in a safe, hygienic, and private space.
'I hadn’t appreciated how much of an impact PEEQUAL would make on our attendees, but I was delighted to see how much queues in their areas were reduced, how excited people were to use them, and how well they were received online. The PEEQUAL team were fantastically solution-focused from start to finish, and will definitely be back for GM23.’
Operations and Procurement Manager (Green Man Festival)
‘I absolutely loved volunteering with Peequal. It's the perfect way to have a lot of fun at a festival whilst also working as part of the loveliest team. The work itself is actually really enjoyable and important but you also get to work for the best people. Daisy, the festival coordinator, made sure us volunteers had everything we needed. We cooked together, hung out and felt really looked after. I couldn't recommend it enough and I can't wait to be back next summer!’
